    If you’re going for cheap, friction shifters with any derailleur you can find would work great. The biggest compatibility issue is that the derailleur might not support a 32 sized cassete. Make sure that whatever derailleur you buy is compatible with your cassete range

    Doesn’t the total capacity of the derailleur matter when only having one cog in the front?

  3. Any used (pre 10x) Shimano/suntour/sram (basically everything except Campagnolo) mid- or long cage derailleur.  I like LX/XT…

    Unless you have friction shifters, than anything with that cage is game.
