Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Pinterest Bluesky Threads I just converted my Marlin 8 to tubeless and these valves look a bit long. Is there any safety’s reasons why I should get smaller ones or should it be fine? by EpicArcher41 Bicycling Biking Cycling Mountain Bikers Mountain Biking
YYAMS on April 18, 2024 8:20 am Too long, yes… They’ll work just fine though. Only thing about too-long valves is they’re more likely to get damaged by a rock hit which is a legit downside but hey ho, nothing is perfect.

Mild issues that might be an issue:
-when pumping up tyres the long stem can wiggle a bit more and start a very mild leak at the base of the valve
-when taking off pump chuck more likely to bash fingers and chuck into rotors or cassette
-if you use a small bottle to refill sealant it can be harder to squeeze in
Makes me think of salad fingers
Too long for my taste yes. Easier to get it damaged.
