Hello fellow Brommies,

I just bought a new C-line 6 speed, took it out for a ride this morning and loved it!

However, I am having an issue with the low derailleur gear. I don’t know a lot about bikes so I am asking for your help. As you can see, there is a clicking sound when I pedal, and the CTARM sprung arm (is that what it is called) is moving up and down. This only happens on the low derailleur gear, regardless of internal hub gears. On the high derailleur gear, it’s fine, so I’ve just been riding on the high gear, and 1,2,3 internal hub.

I researched a bit and I see people hearing a clicking sound too but I’m not sure if it’s the same issue.

I’m kind of a bit worried as I litterally bought it yesterday. Any help would be much appreciated, otherwise I’ll have to go back to the shop to get it checked.

Thank you in advance!

  1. By watching your vid, I notice it seems to clack at the same location on the chain rotation, not the wheel rotation; I wouldn’t know why it doesn’t happen on the smaller cog (-)

Bring it to the your dealer, I’ve had a clacking on one of our bikes but not as severe as yous and it clacked with the crank rotation ; When I (170 lbs) test ride it doesn’t clack, when the wife (86 lbs) rides it does . We are living with it for 3 yrs now and it has worn in some with less clack; like I said our isn’t as bad as yours.

Check the axle of each of the two jockey wheels. It looks to me like it keeps trying to switch gears. The jockey wheels move side to side to accommodate the gear change as the chain moves from sprocket to sprocket. If there’s crud in the jockey wheels’ axles they may not slide side to side easily and could bugger your shifting.

    Source: it happened to me.

Not saying this is *it*, but it’s something to check before you pay a pro.
