Hello! I put new pedals on my 2009 Kona Dew… and then ended up tweaking and tinkering my way to a full on single speed conversion. OOPS. 😅 I’ve edited out my neighbours bikes because I felt weird leaving them in the shot.
I lucked out with chain length and gear ratio (32:16) given the vertical dropouts – this won’t be fine forever but for now it’s running great.
She has new bar tape, a new bell, new brake levers and cables, new chain, and new rear cog.
I just have the one bike and I’m glad I keep tweaking and tinkering. I definitely have had my “fair weather” and “all weather” phases.
I don’t wanna know what a mechanic would say about my amateur forays into maintenance and upgrades 🤷♀️ I just love learning about how bikes work
Anyway… I’m quite proud of this little project 🙂

Thought there was a brake lever coming out of the head tube
As long as it makes you happy, it was worthwhile. I have done crazier things to bikes.
This is DIWhy territory. How flat is it where you live?
I love this, maybe post to r/xbiking as well.
Nice, did you have to re-dish the wheel?
What gear ratio did you go with?
Did you use a tensioner?
Very cool. I sold mine. It was quite unique as well. It was fixed drive like a fixie (no freewheel), but I had a 3 speed internal geared rear hub. It must have been the only 3 speed fixie on the planet.
