I was trying to overhaul my front wheel hub, and I used a screwdriver (with absolute minimum force) to pry open the bearing dust cap, but as you can see, i brute beat the s out of it. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement for this? Also how the hell do you take the thing out…
P.S. Last pic shows the inside (cup?cone?) with some shreds of metal??? And yes my bike did not ride well.

Or you mush them back into shape. The fit is nice but not critical. They are not structural, but there to reduce the amount of dirt.
OK, I have not done a front wheel bearing set yet, but, I have done a rear wheel with the metal dust covers. The trick: you simply do not remove the cover. After the axle is removed, you can clean up the race, add grease, and stick bearings into that race… all from the axle opening. The grease keeps the bearings in place until you put the axle back through.
Just pop it back in. Campagnolo dust caps must be more rugged. I could pry them out without damage. As the other poster said, you can often leave them in place.
