Hey guys,
Bought this gravel bike about 2 years ago. Now I’m running into the problem of not being able to shift the back gear anymore. Also my chain makes some noice when driving.
Any help would be appreciated since I tried to fix it myself but couldn’t figure out what’s causing the problem.
Tried doing some minor adjustments but stopped after it didn’t change anything.

the derailleur isn’t in the [correct mounting position](https://www.rennrad-news.de/forum/attachments/dsc_3694-jpg.703498/) and it or the derailleur hanger might be bent considering the position it is currently in.
try following [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1-xyBurFqw) video. the derailleur isn’t the exact same but it is set up the same as yours
Your cable is hanging out the housing at the adjustment point on the derailleur. Might have something to do with that.
The derailleur looks very out of place.
Your chain makes noise because it’s dirty as fuck. Also the plastic disk behind the derailleur is bent and loose, so it might rub on the chain.
Clean your drivetrain and bike and/or bring to a local bikeshop to get some service.
Big ring x big ring = can’t shift gears anymore.

That rear mech has been tortured!
Large gear front and rear isn’t really a gear you should ever use, and as others have noted, shifting into this gear appears to have pulled the shift cable through the pinch bolt and potentially bent the mech hanger and/or the b-link.
I would be looking closely to see whether anything on the rear derailleur is bent, ensuring the jockey cage spring hasnt also broken. Also, for it to be in the position it is, the b-tension screw or the part of the hanger it interfaces with may also have broken.
If any of that is unclear then best get it to your local bike shop for a full assessment
For a 2x drivetrain you should be able to run the large gear up front and in the back at the same time. It’s not ideal and riding like that a lot will wear things out faster but it shouldn’t break anything when you do it.
My first thought is that the chain looks too short. Have you had the chain replaced recently? If so, by who?
I agree that the hanger could be bent or the cage could be a bit tweaked. Definitely inspect that stuff or take it to a shop that can do an assessment. If you live near an REI they will do assessments for free.
Take the chain off, pry off from the bottom of the front ring if necessary. Downshift the shifters front and rear.. Put the rear mech cable back in the hole on the rear mech. Put the chain back on the front, inner cog. Don’t ever use this gear combo again…
im pretty sure you will need a couple of days of youtube repair videos and alot of try and error to repair it yourself or alternatively a bikeshop or someone with more experience to help you.
You are cross chaining and your chain is to short. Bad combo. Take it to a shop for a new chain
I suspect that derailleur is stuck between the frame. If you’re still able to spin cranks, move the chain to smallest chairing in the front, that will help to remove chain tension. Then, try moving rear derailleur down with your fingers. Don’t apply too much pressure though. See how that goes and we can continue from there
Hey there. For this, I recommend taking it to a bike shop. While you’re there, buy some chain lube and have them show you how to maintain your bike.
Its hard to tell if something broke or not, but your rear derailleur is not in the correct position on the derailleur hanger. The cable has lost its tension due to this. You could go on YouTube and try this yourself, but a bike shop should get you back up and running for under $100.
