  2. 11-speed won’t be an issue when racing. The 42t chainring might be (it would be for me/where I ride), but spending some time on the bike might be the best way to figure out what size chainring you want. You might find 42t is fine, too.

  3. Depends are you racing for podiums, or completion??? Podiums your chainring is 100% a problem. Completion, you’re fine.

    If you’re racing for podiums, put a 44T chainring on. If you’re racing to complete, maybe a 40T. My research into Midwest races leads me to believe that steep or long climbs are rare.

  5. I’ve seen people register for races on full suspension huffys, you’ll be fine. Get some saddle time and you’ll be race ready in no time!

  6. You need electronic 12spd shifting to compete. Ceramic speed pulleys and chain to win! /s
