Hello! Like the title says, I’m a noob and I got this bike from my dad, it works perfectly and it has been maintained properly so no issues there
As the groupset on it is an old ultegra, I was wondering if m:
1. Can you replace it with a new 105 groupset? Rim brake of course
2. Is worth it? Given that it works fine. I have a cassette and rear 105 derailleur that I’m not using, would have to buy the other parts separately

Yes you can replace it with 105. I fail to see a valid reason for doing so however. You’re unlikely to gain anything worth worrying about in terms of shifting or braking performance and unless the current Ultegra components are ridden to death and in poor condition reliability is also going to be not worth it either. You also are unlikely to reduce weight or aero drag by nearly enough to be worth the money. You will likely gain easier climbing gears with the new 105 drivetrain but simply replacing the cassette with a wider range one would also accomplish the same thing but for way less money. You will also not gain anything in terms of mechanical efficiency if switching from your current Ultegra to new 105 except for possibly a more efficient new chain – which can be accomplished by simply replacing the chain. I’d save my money. If what you really want is a new bike with the new hyped up features – buy a new bike.
Sure it’s possible, but why would you? What style of riding do you prefer? The bike is a pretty old tri/tt bike, and if you want to go FAST you’d gain more from clipless pedals and faster wheels than from a new groupset. If you prefer riding around for leisure, a tri bike is not the most ideal bike to begin with, so you’d be better off saving that $ 800 up for a modern road or gravel bike than sinking it into updating a dated tri bike.
Thanks for the insight I have no issue with the groupset right now so if there is no gain in changing it then better lo leave it like that
