Just picked it up today, cleaned a good amount of rust to see if it would be worth doing the whole thing. Going to get a new chain and tires as both are very worn/cracked. Any other suggestions welcome!! No idea the make of the frame only that it is steel. Fenders were removed as they weren’t straight and missing bolts.

New brake blocks. If the tires are old the brake shoes are also hard and will not work well on those steel rims. Look for the best ones you can get and be careful during wet weather.
If it includes the mulch then you did well. If it doesn’t….
It’s certainly a bicycle
I’m a sucker for lugged frames.
You overpaid by about $20, but ok.
Not often you find steel brake calipers. Those are also steel rims and solid steel cranks. That frame is likely gaspipe.
But I guess you have to start somewhere when you’re learning.
Would make for a great singlespeed, strip everything down to the frame and then get some 700c singlespeed wheels
Scrubs up nicely complete with rack and bright work . Mainly safety upgrades as others mention and maybe some alloy rims if you come across some over time for cheap.
Just have fun with it mate!
