  1. A nice jaunt, again showing us natives, in taking our countryside for granted, what we might be missing and reminding us what a green and pleasant land much of the UK still is.πŸ™‚

  2. Good trip guys.
Wife and I have rented a broads cruiser and had a lovely short break .
We live in Ipswich so its fairly local to us.
Wroxham is the main rental basin with srveral companies
We chose a sliding coach roof boat rather than one with a flying bridge as if the weather's good it gives you a really big open air lounge area .
They do rent small day boats for last minute picnic outings .

Narrow boats are more common on canals than the broads which we have also done Grand union is a nice not too far canal and the Bisworth tunnel is interesting to navigate.
    Safe journeys

  3. πŸ˜‚ that bloody pheasant. I had a hare running up the road in front of me the other day, it must have run a mile before it decided to run into the field.

  4. Great music and journey. The last time I went to the Broads was around 40 years ago and it had a plague of greenfly. They were everywhere. Around that time the UK had a plague of ladybirds. At least they don't try to kill you. Very soon the countryside will explode with colour and your rides will be even more enjoyable.

  5. I often go to Fairhaven as it’s just a few minutes down the road for me. I could write you a whole list of recommended places round here for you! x

  6. Lovely to see so many joyful daffodils. Glad you're enjoying tootling around the countryside. Hiring a boat should be fun…life at a lovely slow pace. Go for it!Just so you know, in church it's polite for men to remove hats. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Hi Jess, Love your videos and yes rent a narrow boat, they are easy to steer, the kids will love it too. In two months every tree is fully leafed and it'll be almost summer. Warmer weather is on the way! Happy Easter Jess/Chris/Collette/Shaun

  8. Hi Jess, Chris and family, firstly my apologies for not commenting sooner. loved the pheasant so much πŸ˜€you have had some wonderful interactions with the UK wildlife. 🐐 You struck gold with the egg shed and nothing beats home grown produce. I have never been to Norfolk but your guided tour more than makes up for it. The Broads are a vast expanse of natural beauty , quaint villages and waterways . Great to see that Chris is mobile again too and thanks again for your time and efforts in producing such beautiful videos.
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter weekend, Love and best wishes. xx ❀

  9. Great video πŸ‘ As you said the back roads are less travelled check out a fellow American Vicegrip garage as he takes the back roads of the USA 😊

  10. If you got to Runham you must have passed by Blofield. Although I live in County Durham ny family have been farmers in Blofield since before the English Civil War. That part of the country is very dear to me. Thank you for visiting.

  11. Great video guys. You definitely have to go back in the summer and take the Mississippi paddle boat cruise down the River Bure from Horning. Its a lovely leisurely way to see some of what I think is the most picturesque river in the broads. Horning is a beautiful quaint village with a great pub called The Swann. Perfect for a cold beer and a pub lunch or alternatively a perfect place to sit and have picnic on the riverbank on a warm day and just watch all the boats go by. It reminds me of the lovely holidays I had there as a child😊

  12. Another lovely video. As you're finding out, Norfolk has more mediaeval churches than anywhere else in England. It's because Norfolk is out of the way and not on the way to the north as the counties in the midlands are. When Henry VIII was destroying the churches, his henchmen couldn't be bothered to detour into Norfolk so many more survived here. Anyway, enjoyed your video as always. Weather has been dreadfully wet, even for England, this winter but fingers crossed we will get a better summer.

  13. Much better sound. I can actually hear what you are saying above the sound of the car engine. Infact I couldn't hear the engine at all. Love from Halifax, West Yorkshire. UK.

  14. Loved the video as had many happy childhood holidays on the Broads back in the 80's. I loved my summer holidays in Spain and Italy but had some equally great times on the Broads with my parents where we'd hire a boat for the week. In the 90's my parents bought they're own boat which they kept on the Broads. They initially kept their boat in Surrey on the River Thames close to where we lived but the mooring fees were expensive and my Mum hated negotiating locks. Always seemed to get lucky with the weather up there. You should definitely hire a boat.

  15. Hi Jess & Chris, we enjoyed your video, if you want to explore the Norfolk Broads more you should try Wroxham for boat trips and boat hire, one of the best places to start. Also Jess, we've noticed you like Jacket potatoes, you should try McCains frozen ready baked jacket potatoes from the supermarket, we eat them all the time, we've become McCain jacket junkies ha ! just pop them in the microwave for a fast tasty meal, only around Β£3.70 for a box of 4 jacket potatoes, best wishes x

  16. Never hit a Phesant in your car. they are made from depleted uranium . I've seen one make a VW Golf front end experience unsheduled rapid disassembly at less than 30 mph, which was unfortunate because it was my car. They also taste great! But they are never oven ready after they have been hit by a car. The Broads area is great. I wont say Norfolk Broads because I'm from Oulton Broad which is in Suffolk. Great Vid! Glad to see you are enjoying your time here.

  17. Hi Jess and Chris, if for you can't for any reason use a narrow boat on the Broads then I recommend you visit Kersey in Suffolk and Finchingfield which are beautiful villages, I should warn you there aren't any boats there but I think you'd enjoy it when the weather is better.

  18. Have you been to Matlock Bath? If not how are you with heights and cable cars, the views are great on a clear day. At Abraham Heights there are two old mines you can go down. At the weekend Matlock Bath the bikers come, love your content keep safe jx

  19. Hello to you. Sometimes the journey is a major part of reaching a destination. Not been to the states but I would imagine there are areas and places where the pace of life is a little slower. Is that a welcome change. Some of the parishes are tiny and serving a dwindling regular congregation. Churches are usually open public spaces for quiet contemplation and function as community hubs for village events and necessary church restorations. Life in a slow lane can give you time to look around and dream a little. Hope you see our villages in many seasons. Wishing you happy travels. If you live here now, welcome to you. I imagine the pace of life might be very different for you, or perhaps you have lived a rural life. Enjoy.

  20. You are just down the road from me… πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ». I’m just over the border in the most eastern part of Britain β€œLowestoft” love this part of the world. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ».

  21. Women were required to wear a hat in church because their hair and other features of their upper face, especially the eyes could be distracting. Some High Churches also mandated a veil!

  22. In the county of my father's maternal and paternal lines gone back to late 1400s. Grandmother born in Ranworth (with Panxworth) which you may have visited.
Glad you loved it – summer would have been even better.

  23. We love the Norfolk Broads. We discovered the area only about 10 years ago, but it has become our go-to place for a relaxing holiday. By boat though. I don’t think you can get a full appreciation of the Broads from land.
So, I would encourage you to try out a boating holiday. One tip…don’t be tempted by a boat that has a high air-draft if you want to experience some of the quieter stretches of the rivers. There are some quite low bridges that the taller boats can’t get under. The weather also has an effect on how high the rivers get.
A health warning though…boating on the Norfolk Broads can get seriously addictive. We enjoy it so much we now have a share in a syndicate boat (our boat has 12 owners). One of our shares is owned by an American family who previously worked for a time in Norwich (England) but who still return each year for their Broads β€˜fix’.
If you have any sailing experience, the most β€˜authentic’ experience would be to hire a yacht from Hunter’s Yard. They hire out a fleet of boats that were built in the 1930s/1940s. They are very β€˜easy’ boats to sail (if you have some experience). If you have read Arthur Ransom’s β€˜Coot Club’, the experience of sailing a Hunter’s boat is as close as you can get to that experience.

  24. I'm a Fenn Man, born in Wisbech, lived in Upwell & have family still in the area from Downham to March to Welney. The Broads over by Wroxham are beautiful during the Summer, George Formby's old Summer house is on the Wroxham Broads and the Broad cruises boats go right past it. While in Norfolk check out the beaches from Hunstanton (Hunstun), Snettisham (Snetshum) to Wells-Next-The-Sea. The beaches are sandy & huge
