Your best bet is to google around and see what other people online have managed to fit. A quick look suggests people have been able to fit 42s but the clearance is pretty tight.
Tyre clearance will also vary based on internal rim width, tyre brand/model (some tyres stretch, some fall short of their specified width), and whether you’re using the tyres tubed or tubeless.
Clearance will likely be tighest on the rear wheel at the chainstays, seat stays and fork are usually wider. If I were you I’d buy a single 45mm tyre of the brand/model you want, set it up on the rear and see how it fits, then just eat the cost of selling it on ebay if it doesn’t fit.

Probably not but it depends on the tyres and the rims doesn’t it ? Wide rims will widen the tyre and flatten it a bit.

I guess the question in not will ut fit, but more “will there be enough clearance left”
If they say 40, it means they left a few mms of clearance for mud etc, and bigger tires will reduce this clearance.
I think 45 will “fit”. But then, expect mud and gravels to wear the paint and carbon pretty fast.

Measure the distance from your current tires and make an educated assumption! if the form is only 46mm wide then that’s also a no!
You can normally go a size up from what’s rated on most brands! Carbon wheels are also stiffer so the rub factor of smaller gaps is less of an issue.

I got the Nemo Gravel which uses the same fork, and I wouldn’t go for 45mm tires. Previously I used the Vittoria Terreno Mix in 40mm and they had just enough space to deal with normal to muddy conditions. This is better now that I use the Conti Terra Trail 40mm, but I still don’t feel like there’s a lot of space there…
