I decided im going to buy the Grizl cf slx but I’m wondering if I should wait for the newer 12 speed GRX di2 to come out? I know there’s no release date yet but I’m worried that the newer DI2 won’t be compatible with the older DI2, which if I wanted to upgrade to the 12 speed I’d have to upgrade everything? What do you guys think? Thanks!

You would definitely upgrade most everything minus the crankset I believe as the new Grx will be piggybacked off of the current di2 12 speed road groups.
If I were you and I could wait then that’s what I would do. If I didn’t have a bike needed one, I would buy the best available option.
I’m waiting to see what they release as well. It was in May 2019, when they first announced GRX, so maybe we will hear about an update this May too🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Personally di2 12 speed grx is nothing to get that excited about and if the right bike comes along with sram axs rival/force I would certainly consider that over waiting for shimano to pull their finger out.

However, I’ve also been waiting for 12 speed XTR Di2 for 6 years now…
And yes, the 12 speed Di2 will not be compatible with any of the 11 speed stuff.
I’m waiting for it too but bought bike with mechanical 12 speed which I will upgrade when it launches. I’m assuming it’s going to be launched so that it’s available for 2025 season, so on the latter half of this year.
GRX Di2 will probably be updated to 12-speed at either Unbound or the Olympics (same launch as 12s MTB Di2). But this just rumours and nobody outside Shimano know for sure.
The new 12s stuff will definitely not be compatible with the older 11s parts. Shimano didn’t do this for road and GRX is basically just Ultegra with a clutch rear derailleur and different graphics.
I just got tired of waiting and built up my frame with 12s Di2 Ultegra instead.
Don’t overthink it – if you find a bike that fits your needs, buy it now and enjoy it. Maybe 12-speed comes out soon, maybe it doesn’t. Maybe it’s a big upgrade, maybe it isn’t. In the meantime, you’ll have fun on a new bike.
(I say this as someone who tends to overthink these things as well.)
I would only wait for 12 speed Shimano if I were running 1by.
11-speed is proven, reliable and is on some steep discounts right now for completes.
Wait for 12 speed and then buy the discounted 11 speed cuz it works just as well (imo shifts are actually better on 11 speed di2).
11 speeds are already discounted. So are 12 speed mechanical.
I just upgraded my 1x11grx to 2×12 grx. Groupset was 43% off.
I was debating spending a bit more for grx 11 di2 but all the new 12 speed di2 have wireless cockpits and finding the combination I wanted in stock was not possible without paying full price.
In Canadian dollars….I paid 1300ish for 2×12 mechanical.
2×11 di2 the cheapest I could find was 2200 on sale. Usually ~3000 msrp
Looking at the new 12 speeds, I expect di2 12 speed to be about 3500$
I didn’t really see the value there so I stuckk with mechanical.
GRX 12 speed will be here during summer… at least according to my bike shop.
Not sure how long it will take canyon to go through their stock before swapping to 12 speed though.
Is getting 13 speed Ekar now an option? Do you really NEED di2?
