I’m in Southern CA, so my price sensitivity is dulled a bit, but if this fits you, the drive train works and shifts well, and there are no hidden time bombs ticking in the background, I’d consider this a decent entry level for somebody trying to figure out if they’re interested in road riding. If you want a go-fast bike that climbs well, though, this model isn’t designed to do either well. This a comfort-based endurance frame designed for longer, slower rides. You’ll also be sacrificing all the upgrades that make modern bikes completely different from what this offers—disc brakes, electronic/wireless shifting, etc. If you can talk them down to $350-400, even better.
