My dad made the switch to e-biking last year and gave me his old Specialized Tricross Comp I think from 08′ or 09. I have made a few updates and added some things along the way, but I’m wondering what I could do within reason to modernize or improve this setup for gravel riding and some bumpy urban paths that I ride. The bike has a carbon fork, seat, and chain stays, carbon seat post, Shimano 105 triple crankset, and an ultegra derailluer. I have updated to a hybrid pedal and new gravel king tires on the original rims. I feel like this bike (for it’s day) had a pretty nice spec, so interested in building up from where it is, but would also consider selling it and just buying something new if the advances in tech mean that even an entry level aluminum gravel bike with discs would perform better for about the same extra cost as improving the tricross. I’m also a newbie to all of this so keep that in mind, trying to learn!
