Looks good. I don’t think there is a wrong way just everyone has a different style to it. Some people just have an ugly one but this looks smooth.

  2. Everyone whips differently.

You are basically in the beggining stages of moto whip/scrub, which starts with a small table off the lip and then you do the same motion you do, just turning down and right with your wheel instead of what you are doing which is just right. Both look super stylish if you do them hard.

However, those types of whips make your rear wheel hate you cause you are touching down sideways a lot. Bringing those back basically means you have to a) contourt your body to take up the rotation quite a bit so you don’t land fully sideways, and b) make sure you touch down with your front wheel first at a good downward pitch angle so it has enough time to pull you straight. The last part gets freaky when you are already landing on a downward surface.

I prefer more of the [dirt jumper](https://www.reddit.com/r/MTB/comments/1b7h98g/getting_sideways_on_the_monster_truck/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) style whip, which is more body movement after takeoff, whereas your style is basically taking off into the whip with hard shoulder and hip movments.

I still carve , but instead of throwing your hip and dropping your shoulder like you do, I counter torque my body, pull the handlebars across and push the legs to get more angle, which then lets me unwind quite a bit in the air. Not as cool as moto style and you can’t get as big of angles on them, but a bit safer and easier on the wheels. Those are also easier to do if you ride with your back leg on the same side as your whip, since you can use that back leg to kick the rear end out. On super short bmx or dirt jumpers, you can actually take off quite straight and pull out a decent whip through just torquing your body.

The key points to improve on whips is basically to jump off the rear wheel as much as you can, which makes it so you can move the bike under you, and just get comfortable with carving more, as it will give you more rotation.
