I’m riding a Ragley Blue Pig and I’m planning to upgrade it, so that it gets even better (if possible) at handling tougher terrain. I haven’t changed the factory components, so you can check out the specs here: [https://www.ragleybikes.com/products/blue-pig-hardtail-bike-2021](https://www.ragleybikes.com/products/blue-pig-hardtail-bike-2021)
The plan is to empower the bike as much as possible so I could also train on gnarlier trails, thus improve my skills even more. Obviously, I’m aware that I can’t reach the capabilities of a full-sus.
Being a newbie I’d kindly ask the experienced folk among you to help out by advising on what components to consider upgrading.
PS: Also, please, don’t downvote the thread. I never understood why some people do it even if the thread is not offending anyone. Thank you!

What are you lacking with your current setup? What’s holding you back that you need to upgrade?
All the stock components are already quite beefy and none of them really sticks out as something that would hinder a beginner.
I wouldn’t worry about downvoting, it’s just a symptom of the internet 🙂
No need to upgrade anything substantial until you notice that something is hindering you. What you have is capable especially for a self professed newbie.
The only things that really make sense messing with on the bike are contact points (grips and pedals).
When you run through your tires you could experiment with slightly larger tires, like 2.6/2.6 for your next set, and see if you like them better. It’ll give you a hair more traction and a hair more rear suspension at the cost of a tiny bit of speed.
Stunning rig. The only thing I’d upgrade if anything is the brakes. Something powerful that bites hard so that you can let go trusting you can stop in time. At least that’s what I’d do with my hardtail which came with SRAM level T as well… can’t wait to replace them!
You can always put Fox Factory fork with the price, wich is half of the this bike price, but I really don’t see any reason for this. This is the bike with the good spec, which doesn’t need to be significally improoved in first years.
Realistically, I’d just up the rear rotor to 203. Smaller rear doesn’t actually make sense even though it’s trendy.
Did your build come with the Shimano Deore or SRAM Level T brakes? If it came with the Levels then that could be an upgrade in the future whenever they are actually holding you back. If it came with Deore then just upgrade to metallic pads when the time comes.
The part spec (aside from Level T if present) is really good and makes a lot of sense. Even for an advanced rider there’s not really anything that needs to be upgraded until it breaks.
