A long fine screwdriver and hairspray, using a wd40 novel and straw can help get the hairspray further in, still going to be a real struggle though.

Some kind of pick and wd-40 usually works for me but if those grips are fused on there badly the wd-40 won’t do much and it’s a wrap.

The Deore thumbies will come off without removing the grips. Take out the clamp screw and bend the clamps open.
For the brakes, if you can peel back one side and remove the brake and shifter on that side, then get the handlebar out of the stem, you might be able to remove the brake and shifter on the other side without removing the grip.
The question is why? Just stick with the levers and shifters you have. Deore thumb shifters are about the most reliable shifters you can get. I’d actually do it to get rid of those handlebars.

This bike got xbiked before you got it. If they used hair spray to get those grips on you’re screwed.
Just cut them off. Working shifters and brakes are more important than one-off grips that you’ll never be able to replace.
Bar tape would be fine. No judgement here if that’s the case.

You could cut the bar near the stem and pull off the levers that way.
Soap and water, an air compressor and nozzle is how we get grips off.
The easiest way is to cut them off. Then use bar tape instead of the pain in the ass rubber grips

WD40 with a straw under the grip. It penetrates and you can work it around under the grip. It shouldn’t ruin the grip and you can wash the WD40 out with good dish soap and hot water. Once it’s between the grip and bar, they slide off like a wet noodle.

I have the alternate ’92 Apex colour Black with green crackle called Forrest green, and I have the exact dilemma with the original bull bars…keep or sacrifice the grips or replace the stem/bars/shifters/levers and sell the original to a DB enthusiast
