I recently bought a Bedford 8 in the smallest size they have bc I’m 5’6” with a short in-seam. I made sure to measure before buying it, but it wasn’t until the bike arrived that I realized there’s absolutely no stand over clearance in between the top tube and my crotch while my feet are flat on the floor.
There’s a steep, non-negotiable return charge of $200 that’s 1/3 of the bike’s retail price. Currently just bummed bc I was really looking forward to it, but think it may be too big to ride and I’m not sure what to do other than maybe get taller shoes to see if that’ll help or sell it for less than what was paid for.

You don’t need to stand over the bike with your feet flat on the ground. Tilt it slightly to one side and throw your leg over and put your foot on the pedal. Draw the pedal up then in one motion push off the ground with your other foot (the bike comes up straight) and start peddling. When you want to stop, put one foot down while tilting the bike in that direction.
If you can pedal it on the lowest position then you could just get used to one-leg dismount, bit odd but may work
That’s a badass bike
