Last month I did a 4-day Portland to Seattle ride, totalling about 240 miles.
Riding a newly upgraded Disc Trucker with a Rohloff from Portland, I crossed the Cathedral bridge, stayed on the western bank of the Columbia up to Longview. Overnighted in Kelso. Then went up to Chehalis, Tacoma, and then took a ferry over to Vashon Island and a ferry from Vashon back to West Seattle and cut across Seattle to my final destination.
This was a fundraising ride for an entertainment industry charity and I managed to raise almost $1500 with the ride. The ride was self-funded so all of that $1500 went directly to the charity.
Despite this tour being in the works for almost 9 months before it happened (it lined up with an entertainment conference in Seattle), I managed to have absolutely perfect weather with sunny skies, temperatures between 65 and 75 the whole way. Which is incredibly lucky in the PNW in March.
No camping on this trip, Portland, Chehalis and Tacoma were all Warmshowers stays, Kelso was a motel.
