I had this Microshift Advent Drivetrain for about 15 months now, ridden daily and it always worked very well.
Recently I thought maybe it’s time for a new chain, but after i put it on it made horrible noises and skipped pretty badly in the smaller cogs.
Can you confim my suspicion that the cassette (and maybe even chainring) is done? I thought that it looked ok and that it would last longer since it’s steel.
If that’s the case then I learned my lesson and will change the chain much sooner next time. Thankfully a replacement isn’t that expensive

If everything works it’s fine, when you start having problems and a new chain doesn’t fix it it’s too worn
Since we can’t see the condition of the smallest cassette cog, it’s impossible to tell. However, it’s almost guaranteed that the cassette is toast. Chainrings look fine.
Seeing as chainrings are only 10-$15 now on AliExpress it’s worth getting a new one if you bought a new chain. . That one looks worn to me.
