I have been looking for a new bike for some time now, and have a max budget of about 4500 AUD.

I noticed the Canyon Spectral 6 and was very much surprised to see it doesn’t really receive that much attention. Can somebody explain why?

While I’m posting, I would like to ask: Should I pick up a Neuron 6 instead? I do ride uphill quite a bit, and the idea of a lighter bike is appealing, along with the substantial saving (even if there are some spec sacrifices)… Please help!

  1. i’m not sure but i think the spectral is a little more downhill oriented compared with neuron, on the xc to dh scale…

The current Spectral has been around for a few years so the hype train has moved on. It’s good value but comes with the usual Canyon caveats.

Which one suits you will depend on your terrain and riding intentions. Are you after fast and/or technical descents? Probably Spectral. Is it more mellow trails or long days in the saddle? Probably Neuron.

  3. Have a 2019 spectral and can say it was the opposite back then. Won every bike test it was in and was hard to past the spec given the cost of comparable bikes. Customer service has been good in AU replaced the Al front triangle with carbon under warranty and sent free suspension bush that had worked its way out on decent. Loctite is you friend with the linkage and be careful of the helicoils which is my only knock. Have loved it since the first corner.
