This was part 2 of my trip to Patagonia in spring 2024. There‘s already a lot of ressources online, but feel free to ask any questions.
A few notes:
– Highlights: The endless blue sky, sunrises and sunsets over the nothingness. Penguins.
– After a few days, I was bored and annoyed by the landscape. The forests near Ushuaia felt like a paradise.
– I had a few bad wind days, but no zero day because of it. Judging from the notes on shelter walls, some people did get stuck for a couple of days though – bring a few buffer days. Windguru Pro served me quite well for this stretch, but let me down in the last days nearing Ushuaia.
– The shelters along the way (especially on the chilean side) range from super nice to quite nasty inside.
– Take some extra water bottles and plan ahead where you can refill. Take more than you think you‘ll need.
– Resupply points are scarce
– The Ruta 3 between Rio Grande and Ushuaia sees some heavy truck traffic and is thus quite annoying. If you have the time and strength, I‘d say the [bikepacking.com](http://bikepacking.com) fin del mundo route or any other gravel detour you can find is the much nicer option.
