Found a good deal on Vittoria Terreno Mix 29×2.0- thought they would be perfect for my Kona Sutra. I think the width is fine in the rear, but I’m not sure about how close it is to the tube where the fender mounts.

What do the chainstays look like?
I’d say this is fine with the caveat that if you encounter mud, this will quickly become a giant pain in the ass, so it depends on the kind of terrain you ride.
It’s probably OK, those look like wet surface road tires though. If you got anything with knobbies you might be in trouble.
What’s the minimum gap between tire and chainstay? Official recommendation is 6mm minimum, but in dry conditions you can get away with 3 or even sometimes 2.

Probably fine for summer. But if you’re ever riding mud + gravel you’re going to want more clearance.

Fine in the dry or on sealed surfaces, mud or a rim out of true could be painful
