I was recently gifted a pannier/backpack, and I have an eight year old Cannondale Sora I’d like to start commuting with. [Here’s an image.](https://www.sefiles.net/images/library/zoom/cannondale-caad8-7-sora-copy-211531-1.jpg)
It’s a good bike but unfortunately not really built with commuting in mind, there are no rack braze-ons on the seat stays, or above the rear axle.
I tried [this Rockbros seatpost clamp style one](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QLXCQ1P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but because the road bike layout is different, it would have to sit really high above the wheel, and I also had to return it because it was missing a critical bolt/nut combo.
Should I try again with a similar one seat-post style one, or can anyone recommend something to me that might work? Thanks!

You can use a pair of [p-clamps](https://cdn.thewirecutter.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/21-bike-carry-rear-rack-p-clamps-1024×683.jpg?auto=webp&quality=75&width=1024) to install any rack even if you don’t have eyelets.
My local LBS installed the clamps for me on my single speed but seems easy enough to do on your own. Granted I don’t use that bike for carrying cargo so I can’t attest to how trustworthy the p-clamps are when holding weight.
[Thule Pack n Pedal rack](https://www.thule.com/en-gb/bike-packs-bags-and-racks/panniers-and-bike-bags/thule-tour-rack-_-100090) fits directly to the seatstays with no need for mounting points.
The rather similar (because it was designed by the same people) [Aeroe Spider Rack](https://aeroe.com/products/spider-rear-rack) does the same job.
I just got the [ORTLIEB F78104 Quick Rack](https://www.rei.com/product/233229/ortlieb-quick-rack).
It’s a little pricey, but I think it fits your needs. I also got it because It can be quickly removed. So I can do a ride without all my commuting stuff.
