It’s perfect to use on various threads (pedal threads) and general assembly. Depending on materials assembled you might need an anti seize compound or something specific for carbon.

I use marine grease from the auto store. That’s pretty much exactly what “bike specific” grease is, except it costs $5 for a 1lb tub of it instead of $40 for the “bike version”

I used to buy a chainsaw lubricant this company made for my bike chain. I thought it was great stuff. Haven’t seen it since 2000. I believe it was from Batavia, NY.

You’re probably fine. There are bike specific greases, and yes there’s a reason they exist; one main one is carbon frames. Certain petroleum based greases will eat away at carbon. Other areas on bikes (free hub, suspension) require very light weight greases. Pedal threads are usually a metal to another metal connection so this stuff will likely work but probably won’t last as long as some other greases out there.

On threads I would recommend copper slip.
I have a range of small lubricants I use for various things. It’s nice to have a mix and use the correct lube accordingly.

Pedal threads I use Bontrager assembly lube, I find grease attracts so much grime when it is used.

This particular grease is pretty expensive as a general purpose grease (ie. if you end up using a lot) but it will work fine. You don’t really need a grease with PTFE additive for most bike things, but I did just install a BB that called for this grease specifically.

Usually would use bearing grease but recently switched to all purpose keramic anti seize grease as my cranks are alumnium and my pedals are chromo, and my frame is chromo and my bolts are stainless. Does help preventing osmosis and oxidation

That will work just fine. Any NLGI #2 grease (which is the most common thickness of grease out there) will work. The only important thing I would make note of is to try and not mix greases. Most hardware and auto parts stores greases are all compatible because they are pretty much all lithium based thickener. If you use a bike specific grease, don’t mix it. I know they use some different additives that will destroy your bearings if mixed. Most common one I’ve seen is Park Tool’s poly grease. It’s not compatible with any other grease.

TLDR: yes that is good grease for pedals. Any will do. Don’t mix grease in same bearings to be safe.

Surprised nobody complained that it would add resistance. Lol. It is pretty thick stuff! Thinkens even more in the cold temps. That being said, I have used it for a while and all good. I do think on free-spinning elements something thinner would be better.

No, it doesn’t need to be high temperature but it just happens to be high temperature and it doesn’t matter.
I’ve used it almost everywhere and it works great. There’s very little call for specialized grease. For the most part, Grease is grease.
