I’m back with another question. I bought a new group set that came with a Shimano BB-MT501 and matching cranks to restore my old MTB. They did include some spacers but not enough. The old bb was not this style so I don’t have anything to go on. I don’t see any reason this wouldn’t work with more spacer evenly put on both sides?

You won’t have hardly any thread engagement left with enough spacers. What bb shell size is that?
You need a crankset with a shorter spindle. About 10mm shorter by the looks of it
I recently fitted a cranks for a 83mm BB on a 73mm frame and just use top headset bearings but that was on a 30mm crank spinal just find something that is the same thickness or a old bb Shel and cut it up and use it as a spacer put it on the spindle tho not the BB threads I’ll get a picture tomorrow of what I mean
You installing a mtb crank on a road bike (68mm)?
Might the crank be for an 83mm bb shell and that’s why the difference is so large?
