Instead of spending $3-400 in modern drivetrain upgrades and talismanic parts on my $100 Rockhopper project, I decided to pick up a 2021 Trek 520 for $500. I’m still gonna spend a ton of $$$ in parts, but I feel better spacing out the upgrades on the Trek 520.

Damn nice score!
I have a 2017 520 disc I picked up for $350 from some dude moving out of his apartment. It’s probably the only bike I have that I consider a forever bike.
Ps that front rack is hard to find! Mine didn’t come with one and I ended up ordering one from Europe because I had a hard time finding another that worked well with the 520.
