  1. I had a similar failure on an X10 chain a few months ago. That chain was bought from a reputable seller and had much less than 1000 km on it. I chalked it up to bad luck, as I’ve had a dozen other KMC chains that were fine…but you always wonder.

    Where did you buy the chain? On KMC’s website they have an explicit warning about counterfeit chains so it’s evidently a big problem for them:

  3. My last KMC chain was trash too. Came on my brand new Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro. Switched to Shimano’s Ebike rated chain and had not a single issue.
