Hi, my wife and I are doing a trip in the fall through six New England states, flying into Portland Maine, flying home from NYC. I’ve been working on the route for a couple years, using dirt roads and bike paths, with the goals being calm roads, and eating great food. I’d love input from folks on must see or eat things, bad road choices on my part, or something else I’ve not thought of.
Vermont is all on Ted King’s gravel route, really stoked on that. New Hampshire is almost all on an old rail to trail.
We live in Colorado, and never have to think ahead about camping as you can just camp anywhere in public land, so that’s probably going to be a challenge. Is everything private land up there, or is there small pockets of public land? Do camp grounds fill fast, and will they be impossible to just wing it and have walk up availability?
So excited, this will put me at 44 states ridden in, and we will celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary during this trip! Thanks for any advice or thoughts.

Also, there is a sub plot of finding the best pizza. Pepe’s in New Haven is currently the only pizza on our agenda.
