Hi everyone

First time posting here so thanks in advance!

I was taking off my grx cranks and stripped one of the allan key bolts on the left side. I tried everything to remove it (lots of tips on this sub) but had to get more destructive as the day went on. A few hard lessons were learnt…

Anyway, I finally got it out but when drilling for the extractor bolt I was at a slight angle and ended up drilling out some of the thread in the crank. I tidied it up and a bolt still goes in but should I replace the crank?

Any advice appreciated for this idiot who learned a few lessons today. Needless to say there are a few new marks on the crank now…

  1. Any damage to the threads for cranks renders it dangerous… Do you really want to unexpectedly lose a crank during a ride?
