Planning a bike trip along the California coast and there is this quiet road into the hills right at the campground I’m staying at. The forest service website says it is “impassable to vehicle traffic” and “The public is strongly encouraged to avoid Nacimiento-Fergusson Road”. How do your plan your trips for unknowns like this?

Call the army base. I got an OK to come in from arroyo seco in the north, but had to turn back bc of my own issues.
You can’t even get to it from the north or south currently. Hwy 1 is closed from the south at Ragged Point as of yesterday, and has been closed from the north at several points for months due to extensive slides and repairs.
I’ve heard that if you wait until 5:30 when the workers go home, you can ride through. I’m planning on trying this weekend. I figure if it doesn’t work, I’ll just turn around.
I know someone who has done it twice in the past year, so I’m optimistic.
