So this is my restomodded 1998+(ish) Ampello SLX. A friend of mine picked it up for me when he saw someone put it on the kerb to be taken for free, and when I went to bring it home I discovered it’s actually a really nice high end frame in its day. I noticed the Cinelli spoiler BB shell, internal chainstay cable routing for the rear derailleur and Campagnolo dropouts. Later I also found out the tubes are Columbus SLX, top of the top that was available at that time, also raced by pro’s.

After some more digital digging I found out it’s a locally made Ampello SLX, and after contacting the owner of the shop that originally built it, I was able to go pick up some original, although not 100% period correct stickers from his shop. (Ampe cycling in Torhout, Flanders)
I went to town taking the frame to bare metal and removing the front derailleur mount and one of the braze-ons on the downtube for a 1x conversion.
Fresh primer, base coat, metallic paint, stickers and clearcoat turned it into something I’m really proud of.
I then built it up with the following mostly new parts:

-Deda murex stem
-Deda piega bars sanded to raw alloy (might replace along with the stem for more classic looking ones)
-SRAM Rival 1×11, 42t front, 11-28t rear because I live in the flat lands of flanders
-The original Shimano 600 ultegra cranks (only original part left)
-Procraft classic seatpost
-Ritchey WCS skyline saddle
-HT-cheetah ARS02 flat pedals cuz I come from MTB and don’t like to clip in
– ’90s Shimano 105 brakes with Kool Stop pads
-Capgo BL cable housing
-Ritchey zeta classic wheelset (only in last picture, they came later)

Total build weight incl pedals is 8.7kg.

Oh and I stupidly forgot to mention Schwalbe One 700×25 tyres and Schwalbe extralite tubes.
