Kuwahara Lion from 1988. 59cm frame made of Ishiwata Quadruple Butted Tubes with lugs and fine details. Bike currently as bought. It’ll soon get a full maintenance, a new saddle and handlebar (current is too narrow, thinking about Nitto B802) and wide tan-wall tyres. Any reccomendations for parts?

I would just strip off everything not necessarily needed (lights, dynamo, fenders, rack) and go with all the original parts. Maybe try to complete the group installed (suntour cranks or full vintage deore group).
New handlebars, tires (of course maxxis dth or billy bonkers 😜) and saddle seem to be a good choice.
Neat, I didn’t know butting went up to 4.
Would grab some high quality silver fenders (VO smooth or similar) and a pair of decent flat pedals and call it good.
