  1. The crankset mystifies me more than the handlebars. The left/non-drive side crank clearly looks like an Astabula but the drive side, based on the limited photos, doesn’t appear to look like any Astabula I’ve seen.

    I would guess its from the mid 1990s, solely based on the graphics and paint.

    These were inexpensive department store bikes, they are not great to ride. The frame is low grade steel, most of the components like the rims and brakes are steel as well. And yes, the handlebar has been reversed and equipped with mountain bike shifters and brake levers. This is not a bike i would spend any time, money, or effort fixing.
