Where does the straddle hanger end up when you have everything in place?
If it’s higher up, you might be able to change the bend angles or add a bend to the diving board so that the hanger stays above it.
If it’s low down, it’s a little trickier. You might be able to carefully drill a small hole through the diving board and thread the brake cable through. You may still need to rebend it to keep it above the hanger when you’re braking.

Switch to a v-brake (better braking power also) or very low profile canti brake like the diacompe dc980 (allows you to raise the yoke without sacrificing mechanical advantage)
