Posted this in bicycling and was told I should post over here. Axle slips forward now while trying to use the smaller cog in the further back position. I’m tightening the piss out of those bolts and this issue has been getting worse over time to the point I can’t use the smaller cog anymore and still have alignment issues on larger cog. Also it seems to only slip on the cog side not the brake side.

One person on the other forum said they think my axel is too long based on one of the pictures. The fact that it worked for so long makes me think the frame might have bent? Looking for any advice or potential solutions.

  1. If the wheel is slipping in the fork end then you don’t have the bolts on tight enough

  2. If the wheel is slipping in the fork end then you don’t have the bolts on tight enough. Also, all of that rust can act like a dry lubricant.
