Hello and welcome back to the Para Sport Update, produced in collaboration with the Canadian Paralympic Committee. I’m Greg Westlake. In New Zealand, Canada’s Wheelchair Rugby Team played in the World Wheelchair Rugby Qualification Tournament. Running through the group stage
Undefeated, Canada faced off against Germany with a chance to punch their ticket to the Games in the semi-final. In a 58-41 win, Canada booked their spot at the Paris Paralympics. They finished the tournament with silver losing to Australia in the final. Staying down south, Canada’s Para-Cyclists
Were in Brazil for the UCI Track Para-Cycling World Championships. Mel Pemble continued her dominant form as she earned a silver in the C3 500m and a bronze in the C3 Omnium. Keely Shaw seized a bronze in the C4 Individual pursuit, and Alex Hayward took silver in the C3 scratch race.
Leaving the Rio sun for the Italian Alps for Para Alpine World Cup action. Kalle Ericcson’s sizzling rookie season continued as he won the Visually Impaired slalom, and silvered in the Giant Slalom, while Michaela Gosselin picked up bronze in the Standing Slalom. Trading skis for boards, we head
