THis is really a serious answer.

rub some non abrasive dust on it. Its an old trick I learned from a television repair man (shows how old I am). Back in the console TV days, if there was a scratch or worn spot on the finish where the bright wood was shining through, he would cover it up with a bit of dust from the floor.

Don’t use abrasive dust.
