Emmanuel Macron’s remarks about the potential deployment of French and Western troops in Ukraine are making Russian leader Vladimir Putin very uncomfortable. Macron’s and Biden’s rhetoric is raising tensions between Putin and NATO every day.
The Kremlin says it is taking precautions against the possibility of France deploying troops in Ukraine. Putin has said that foreign troops on the front line would be a target for Russia.
Russian officials reacted sharply to Macron’s remarks, saying they “threatened the start of the third world war.” Moscow has also called for a meeting of the UN Security Council on March 22nd, at which “statements from NATO countries on the deceptive logic of the alliance are expected.”
Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said: “Macron continues to increase France’s direct participation in the war in Ukraine, which in no way coincides with the interests of the French people. “He said that France plans to send 2,000 troops and that they will be “legitimate targets” for Russia. At the same time, Russian propagandists openly acknowledged that the regime is confronting France on many fronts.
