Got a total groupset refresh at my LBS a few days ago. They replaced the cassette, pulley wheels, chain and chainrings (Shimano Tiagra 10 speed). They told me I should ride a bit and the problem will disappear, but I rode 300km and its getting worse. It happens when I shift from the big to the small chainring, riding in the middle of the cassette. Chain is a 10 speed Shimano HG. Is there something I can do before riding back down to the shop ?
Chain suck after everything was replaced at the shop

Very strange… Does this only happen when you are using the smallest cogs?
>everything
Doubt
Check the small ring orientation. it might have been installed flipped the wrong way.
When I hear “chain suck” I think of the chain getting stuck to the ring because the teeth are “holding” the chain. In this case, the chain is falling between the rings. If this is the case, fire that bike shop.
I’d check if the small chainring is in the correct orientation. The chain shouldn’t be able to fit between the chainrings
Wrong chain
just take it back to the shop, they messed something up and it’s their responsibility to fix this.
Maybe chainring is set backwards? Looks like a pin that should be facing crank arm so chain won’t get stuck there is grabbing the chain
Those chain rings new?
Take back to the shop, ask them to install the parts correctly (the inner ring is not spaced correctly), then berate them for telling you the problem would go away because that is just a lazy excuse to get you to go away, then find another shop.
Are you cross chaining? Can’t see what cog you are in at the rear.
I think they maybe even put the wrong chain because it shouldn’t be picked up. Could be that the chainring is misaligned also. Let the shop do all the work mate!
See if you can get a refund and find another shop. Part of what your paying for is for them to make sure the bike is ready to ride. A good mechanic finds these issues before handing the bike back to you, a bad one tells you to keep riding it, like that’s going to fix the chainring being on backwards.
Sorry to break it to ya but those chainrings are absolutely not new.
The chain looks worn out and the chain ring is definitely worn out! The shark fins are absolutely noticeable
Wrong chain. There are different chains for different gears. Also the chain lock may be wrong size.

The chain should not get stuck in there, right ? 😅
Chain suck is caused by chain pitch not matching chain ring pitch, i.e., wear. Something isn’t right and it isn’t your problem. It is theirs.
The small chain ring is installed on the wrong side.
