Hello,
The bottom bracket bearings of my marin dsx2 need to be replaced. Now I’m getting a bit confused by all the in/compatibilities out there.

I have a Shimano m6100 derailleur, sunrace 12speed 11-51 cassette and Samox crank and bottom brackets.

Can I mount a Shimano BB-mt501 bracket or are there better affordable options around? Never heard of Samox before tbh, so my first guess is to try to switch to shamino components on replacements.

In addition my crank got a little bit damaged by the messed up bearing ( I guess) is it worth a replacement or will the new bearings will lie on the surface even it is a bit damaged?

I hope I didn’t get too much wrong

Thanks in advance.

  1. The BB-MT501 is a good option and will fit your bike if the cranks have a 24mm diameter spindle. They probably do, but make sure to measure it. From reading online, the DSX2 seems to have a 68mm BB shell, so you will also need one 2.5mm spacer on each side with the BB-MT501. To answer your final question, I don’t think that the slight wear in the picture will be an issue at all, looks to be just some paint that has rubbed off.
