Hello all. Looking for a good starting mountain bike. I am between these two options. I know the Roscoe is better than a Marlin but it’s also older. Which what you guys advise on getting. I am looking to do some decent trail riding around some lakes and some dirt trails.

I think that’s the Marlin v3 cause its got the 1x drivetrain. Very similar bikes, I’d go with the Marlin though. I like the geo better, and prefer the groupset over the SX on the Roscoe … And I typically prefer SRAM drivetrains, but only GX and up. Not a big fan of the NX but especially the SX I don’t like as much as the Shimano Deore on the Marlin.
2020 is the same year as my roscoe and I love it! Paid $700 for it so thats a good deal, although mine had/has a dropper post. Im sure either would be good
