6 years and had my first tube break on my bike. I thought I was familiar with tires (mostly cars) but I took the tire off to find the leak and I saw 700×38/45c. Now I know the latter numbers are the width in mm. I was going to replace with the same size. But why does mine have two numbers on the old tube. Thought it was just one number. Is that just the width range depending on the tire pressure?
I mostly do road light gravel riding. The target next to me has a 35-43 available. Would that work ok or beat to wait until I get a chance to go to a bike shop?
My bike is a “hybrid” just had a commuter tire on it. Tire size is 40 622 700 38c

The two numbers are the minimum and maximum tire width. The tube can stretch to fit a variety of tire widths, from 38 to 45 mm.
