The build for my Bridgestone MB5 city bike is coming together well, but I’m still looking for tires. The Rene Herse Rat Trap Pass jumbo 26” slick calls my name, but I wonder if there you have other suggestions. What tires should we dress it up with?

A red mid-‘90s Bridgestone MB5 pictured with fixings for a cross between a klunker and a randonneuse. Wheels will be Velocity Cliffhangers laced to White Industries M15 front hub and Sturmey Archer 3 speed coaster brake rear hub. Parts include Tumbleweed Persuader bars, random co-op faceplate stem, Nitto canti mount rando rack, Wald 37 basket, Velo Orange fenders and Mojave bottle cages, Brooks C17, Shimano Ultegra cranks, and MKS Lambda Grip King pedals. Can’t wait to get it put together!

Really can’t go wrong with Rat Trap Passes. If you’re looking for something slightly skinnier with some side knobbies for some cornering control, I like the Simworks Homage on my MB-3 too.
2nd rtps. Go for endurance casing even those still supple. Also tumbleweeds gonna fit that stem??
I couldn’t even fit 2.1 Gravelkings on my Mb-6 without dimpling the chainstays so be cautious spending money on RTPs. I’d go with Simworks Homage I think the blue/green rubber would look cool with the red frame.
MKS Lambdas? Nice. Billy Bonkers are very popular. I have Bontrager Connection Trails on my 26 inch and Bontrager LT3s on my hybrid, both are pretty solid for cheap tires.
I love Continental Town & Country 26×2.1 on my ’89 Jamis Dakota. They make them in a 1.9 too iirc.

I’d shamelessly throw on some 26×2.1 Schwalbe Big Bens and drive that thing like a tank. Herse tires seem a bit too precious for the build, but that’s just me.
