I have a 2009(I think) specialized epic with a rear shock that squeaks, locks poorly, loses some air and generally – I want to replace it. As far as I can tell it should be a 184x44mm shock, and the Rockshox monarch RL seems to be a good option but – there are two issues:
the shock fitting manual says to verify whether the bike is intended for progressive digressive or linear shocks – I have no idea what the epic requires and whether the monarch will fit in that regard.
And the second issue is that I cannot find the external dimensions of the monarch shock so I have no idea if it will fit in the frame mechanically.
Help on any of those two issues will be appreciated! Thanks!

looks like it would fit just fine, the 3 way switch will face away from the top tube. I replaced my 2010 stumpjumper shock with a monarch (rc3) and it rides heaps better. as long as the dimensions are equivalent and you have the right bushing(s) it’s a straightforward swap.
