Both bikes are 300 bucks. I’m looking to upgrade to a more modern lightweight bike. For some background I live on a paved trail and take 35 mile bike rides often. I have an older pretty heavy schwinn and although it’s in great shape and does the job. I’ve been told I should upgrade to something newer

Why have you been told you should upgrade? I’d keep saving your money and spend a bit more when you know what you actually want from an upgrade. These are fine bikes for a paved bike path, but so is an old Schwinn.
Go for the Lemond.
I’m partial to LeMond myself.
