I got those two bikes yesterday for cheap.
I want one for the dirt bikepacking longish distance adventure. (On and off road)
And one for a city goofing curb bumpin foolin commuting.
Both are two small for me haha.
The muddy is technically the smallest, but not by much. It’s lighter and better quality. I like the original stem, and I would like if possible to keep it, and still manage to rise de handlebars a bit.
The Peugeot I wound mind changing the stems, trying some BMX handlebar to rise the riding position.
I’m confused, too many options haha
Tell me what you would do in my shoes !!

Bike fit is the most critical part.

Go the first or get one that’s your size
Buy both. Disassemble and throw the best parts together. Than never really ride it, but buy a new project bike and repeat all over 🫠😅
Ps: Both look like a decent base for nice bikes. Muddy fox looks like it has indestructible thumb shifters. And I like the frame colour more. But hard to tell without drive side pictures. And as the other comment stated: frame size is the critical point here!

Both will ride just fine. I’d think Muddy being lighter would suit better for bikepacking, where you might need to carry it from time to time? Peugeot might be less desirable for thieves in the city, if they´re even vaguely in the know.
I’d be thinking about the peugeot for touring. Just to look at it, it seems to have slacker angles, which among other things should make it easier to fit using a longer seat post and stem. I dunno that weight is all that important for touring … Rotating mass, eg how heavy your shoes are makes a difference. But as for the frame, you think it’s heavy now, wait till ya strap 3 water bottles and some snacks and rain gear to it
2 nice bikes. Have you adjusted the seat height yet, or were those the ‘for sale’ photos? That’s not an unusual amount of seatpost showing.
The Peugeot paint is pretty stylish. For that reason it’d be my townie. Seat tube angle on the Peugeot is gonna help with fit. Keeping the longer stem with a non-bmx riser might keep it from getting cramped.
