I’m planning a westbound tour from New York to San Francisco, via the C&O, GAP, and St. Louis, largely following the ACA Chicago to NYC Philadelphia Alternative and Western Express routes.
It seems that facilities at the Hite Campground and Marina are [closed until further notice](https://www.nps.gov/glca/learn/news/20240111.htm).
Specifically:
> Full services were suspended at Hite after the lapse in a concession operator in 2021. Due to the high cost of generating power at this remote location, all services are being suspended until further notice. This is a temporary closure until a new takeout boat ramp is constructed for Cataract Canyon Colorado River trips and a new Hite concession contract has been awarded. The National Park Service’s access road to the Hite Ranger Station will be temporarily closed at the highway.
This seems to be the hairiest stretch without water or services on the route. Without Hite, it’s ~71 miles from Fry Canyon to Hanksville.
I assume I can’t count on water sources outside of Lake Powell itself, and should be prepared with filters and iodine tablets.
Open-ended question, but any other advice from tourists with experience on these routes?

I admit I know nothing about this particular route. But how is 71 miles (114 km) without a water source a problem? That’s only about half of the El Cardon stretch on the Baja Divide with no water available at all, and yet people ride that all season long. Couldn’t you just fill up your bottles and a big water bladder or two, get up early in the morning, and just knock those km out?
