Handle bars are far too narrow for my liking though at 420mm, pretty hard to go from 800 on my mtb to narrow so I want to swap them out for Salsa cowchipper, anyone currently using them?
I do like flared bars, they are more ergonomic than straighter ones. Having set up cowbells on 2 of my pavement bikes, I wanted a cowchipper on my gravel rig, but I mistakenly bought the woodchipper instead. It’s on the more extreme end of flared drop bars.
I decided to fly with it. They are strange handlebars. It takes a lot of fiddling with the handlebar angle and brifter positioning to make it comfortable in both the hoods and the drops. Even then, the drops only feel “right” when I’m going downhill, it feels a little strange on flatter terrain.
On a spectrum of not flared to very flared, I think cowchipper would be a good medium
