A guy is selling it near me for 1200Euros, its in great shape. The frame is a 2023 with only 5000km on it. Also has new groupe shimano Sora 2×9 speed and plateau 50/34. Cassette 11/32, Mavic Allroad tubeless ready with mechanical disc brakes And of course has the attachments for front and rear racks. The idea is i would use the bike to do the Silk road starting in france and finish somewhere in central asia or maybe singapore if it comes to that. Thoughts?

As a frame it should work, assuming mounting points are present. My initial thoughts are:
1. Gear range. Fully loaded is the 34/32 low gear going to get you up all the climbs? Maybe you put a 34/36 cassette on, but it that still going to be too high of a ratio?
2. Wheels are 28 spoke. Ideally I’d want at least 32 and more likely 36.
Can’t comment though on the 2nd hand value at 1200 euros.

It looks like the chain stay might be a bit short causing your heels to clip the rear panniers. It’s worth checking it out to see whether or not it’s a problem.
You’ll need legs of steel with those gears if you’re doing any climbing.

11-42t cassette & a new longer chain is required
